Nigeria: the rebellion Will
The Nigerian Army is conducting military operations against the Niger Delta rebellion, and just attacked one of the last major rebel group activity camps – the Niger Delta Volunteers Force.
Two days later, the rebels blasted two major pipelines in the country – the sixth OPEC oil exporter. The military retaliated expecting to capture the movement’s leader, John Togo, whose claims are related to five points, beginning by: an equitable distribution of the oil and gas revenues to local people, the government measures against the environment pollution of the Delta, and promptly developing the infrastructure of the local communities, followed by the creation of more provinces and local governments in the delta. The North has 19 federal states out of the 36 composing Nigeria, but the South only 9. Finally, the rebellion demands the abolition of the unfair “Land Use Act”, restricting the land usage to the local communities. If the government continues to ignore these demands, we will launch major destructive operations in the name of the people of the Niger delta, and we will hit the oil companies that help the Nigerian Task force, John Togo said.
