Morocco hosts New Renault plant: Another successful story of Moroccan investment policy PDF Print E-mail

renault-tangerRenault stressed that the opening of a giant factory in Morocco to build low-cost cars is a part of the French company for prevailing more markets.
The Tangiers factory is a key for Renault's to expand in the low-cost segment under its Dacia brand, which already accounts for nearly a third of sales.
The Renault plant in Morocco promoting Tangier-Med has just entered service and was officially inaugurated today the  9th of  February.
Renault already has a production plant in Morocco, near Casablanca, which has an annual capacity of 50,000 vehicles but largely serves the domestic market.
In an initial phase, the new plant will turn out 170,000 low-cost vehicles a year, rising to 400,000 when a second production line is added in 2013.

benkirane-moroccoAfter thirty-five days of arduous negotiations, Morocco has a new government. On January 3rd, 2012, Abdelilah Benkirane presented his selected ministers to King Mohammed VI for royal approval and swearing in. The ceremony took place in the Throne Room at the Royal Palace in Rabat.
The lengthy process of coalition negotiations and government forming in Morocco is bound to have tangible impact on the performance of both the government and PM Abdelilah Benkirane.
There are huge expectations from the new government at the grassroots level.
Most important is that the Benkirane government is the first to implement the provisions of the new Constitution. Since the Constitution was approved by an overwhelming majority in a referendum - there is widespread public commitment to its implementation. To a great extent, Benkirane was elected as the political leader most trusted to be able to undertake this task.

bouteflika-tunisiaAlgerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika recently promised to support reforms during the parliamentary elections scheduled for May.
"I am glad that the forthcoming legislative elections will be contested by an unprecedented number of new parties and that new legal arrangements for independent candidates are in place," he said on Monday (December 19th) during a cabinet meeting.
Algeria cannot remain untouched by the "Arab Spring", Bouteflika acknowledged during a visit to Laghouat on Wednesday (December 14th).
He said, "Arab Muslim nations have experienced serious unrest and Algeria is naturally affected by the events and developments going on around it."

Ivory Coast to launch new power station PDF Print E-mail

hydroelectric-power-stationIvory Coast is to build a new 275 megawatt (MW) hydroelectric power station in the Soubre area of the country, about 200km west of the capital, according to the Ministry of Mines.
The announcement came during a two-day meeting of West African power sector officials, and is part of Ivory Coast's plan to increase power capacity by 150 MW per year for the next decade.
Ivory Coast currently has a capacity of about 1,200MW of electricity, 607MW of which are provided by six hydroelectric facilities, putting the country in a position to export surplus power to a number of surrounding countries.
